Fascination Gliding !

Soaring means more than simple sports, it means technology and
science too. People who have no such experiences only can guess it, and maybe they can feel
something of that enthusiasm that glider pilots bring into their sport.
Once they were catched,
they dedicated all their leisure time to their hobby, in order to climb step by step for reaching
a higher level of gliding.
Experienced glider pilots know: They have
the freedom to act against the power of nature and to take an advantage of it.
Some call it pathetic: to overcome the power of nature. A really experienced glider pilot is
modest: He knows, he may be at most a part of nature for a short period of time,
but it will be impossible to beat nature. At least soaring is a method of flying that takes
good care of environment.
Only the take off procedure requires different energy - few in comparison to the high
performance, that is possible today. A glider pilot uses the power of nature, he never withdraws
anything of nature. He does not change it - he enriches nature. Gravity is his drive, the most
quiet, the less violent energy source, that exists. The gentle
whistle, that comes along with gliding and soaring, it never could disturb anybody - it is just
an expression of life.

Sometimes we hear the assertion, motor gliding seems to be a
contradiction in terms :
Either one uses an engine, one is not gliding. Or one is gliding,
there is no engine required.
Thereof it follows, that motor gliding is a neither- nor- affair
and a motor glider is neither a suitable motor plane nor a right glider, a so called
hermaphrodite. So far the critics, they did not stop talking until today. Despite those facts
the motor glider was to be accepted as an own category: as glider with self take-off ability.
The period of development has finished,
today motor gliders have equal rights as motor planes and gliders.
It turned out, that from one hundred glider pilots, there remains only a single one who is an
obsessed
high performance flyer, the other 99 prefer to fly just for fun and relaxation.
You guessed it, for those 99 guys the motor glider was created...

Motor flying presents varied operation methods:
Glider towing and banner advertising, aerobatics, rallye-, float-, und glacier flying
and the so called "circular flight", and - considering the implementing rules of flight -
the VFR-, Night-VFR- and IFR-Flight. Beside those disciplines the fascination
of sports planes was found within their use as cruising plane. Approaching foreign aerodromes
enriches practical knowledge in flight navigation and may bring many wonderful events on the other hand.
Friendship between pilots and clubs also may be the results of those flights.
In contrast to gliding and motor gliding the main thing in this category of aviation is not to
take advantage of thermals and weather, the principal thing is the drive of those planes , an engine that
makes it posssible to fly almost independent of weather conditions.
The matter of "flying" itself is a main thing in each aviation category of course,
nevertheless motorflying could not give you that feeling of floating - the principal experience
of gliding and soaring.
Motor flying mainly contains the rational values of flying: To reach a destination quick and
comfortable and to get a different perspective of the landscape below.
The satisfaction of motor plane pilots is not trying to overcome the power of nature, it is to manage the tasks
of flying and navigation, the technical requirements that come along, because priorities during flight may change rapidly.
Fascination Ballooning !

Ballooning means to deliver yourself to the power of nature. Each take off brings a different
ride and a new adventure.
Neither the destination hardly could be predicted, nor the moment and the method of landing is
to estimate.
Despite we have the knowledge about influences and effects
vagueness remains predominant.
"Floating" above the country and in the figurative
sense above all matters, to be released from
the narrow dimension of earth and having still intensive contact to the earth below the basket,
having free view and acoustic connection to the ground, gives a special kind of consciousness.
Another fact is , that the circumstances of balloning make every take off to a teamwork
that is supporting community spirit. The preparation of a balloon take off
demands for a good team and not least
for modern people a suitable combination of manual work and relaxed floating through the air,
may be a further reason to perform that category of aviation.
Individualism of each single ride and
the dependence of reliability of each single member of the team,
floating beyond earth and on the other side the intensive contact to earth, the knowledge about
technical conditions to realize ballooning, the
consciousness of delivering oneself to the power of nature, those are the polarities for balloon pilots.
